We try to collect as little as possible. BirdMap is usable without an account, and browsing does not require you to tell us who you are.

What we collect

• Basic request logs. Like any website, our servers record standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to operate and secure the Service.
• Location, only if you allow it. The map can center on your location if you grant your browser's location permission. That happens on your device — we don't store your location.
• Account data, if you create one. Community features may ask for an email address and a display name. We'll only ask for what a feature needs.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful, in aggregate. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the Service and remember your preferences. If we add accounts, a session cookie will keep you signed in.

Children

BirdMap is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can browse without an account, deny location access, and clear cookies at any time. If you have an account, you can request access to or deletion of your data.
